FRISCO, TEXAS (JANUARY 24, 2013) - The Frisco RoughRiders will host the Triple-A Round Rock Express in a pre-season exhibition game at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, April 2 at Dr Pepper Ballpark. The contest will pit the top two minor league affiliates of the Texas Rangers' farm system against one another and will give fans the unique opportunity to see many future Rangers on the field at once.
This will be the second time the RoughRiders and Express have met in the "Future Rangers Showcase" at Dr Pepper Ballpark. The teams previously played in Frisco on April 3, 2011. The rosters from that game featured 15 players that would go on to play in the majors, including current Rangers Craig Gentry and Martin Perez.
"This will be a great way to kick-start the season," said RoughRiders manager Steve Buechele. "For fans in the Metroplex, this game will be a terrific display of the tremendous amount of talent the Rangers have at the top of their farm system. At that time the players and coaches on both sides will be looking forward to getting back to playing in the state of Texas after a long spring training, so I'm really looking forward to it."
A limited number of tickets are currently available for fans to purchase for the "Future Rangers Showcase 2013." Fans may purchase tickets by calling the RoughRiders at (972) 731-9200.
